The Marketing Assistant is responsible for assisting in coordinating proposals, writing for social media, editing presentations, administrative support of the business development team, editing marketing materials, and light graphic design for use in proposals, presentations, and literature.

Position Reporting Structure:

This position has a direct reporting relationship to the Marketing Communications Manager.

Key Corporate Relationships:

This position has frequent encounters with internal customers such as partners, project managers, and project coordinators. Interaction with external vendors is light and includes our employee apparel program, logo’d gift merchandise, and occasional contact with printers, sign vendors and caterers.

Essential Functions (not in any specific order). Other duties may be assigned.

  • RFP/Interview preparation/generation (may include sitting-in on strategy meetings, compiling electronic files, writing cover letters and custom text pieces, reviewing content for accuracy and receiving and making edits from the internal team)
  • Print, punch and bind proposals and interview materials
  • Professional writing and graphic design for social media, blog and new marketing materials
  • Support of business development team (maintain database, set appointments/reminders)

Competencies:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Proficiency in Adobe InDesign. Basic proficiency in Adobe Illustrator or CorelDraw (we use CorelDraw.) 
  • Experience with the WordPress website platform is a plus. 
  • Customer focus, flexibility, initiative, interpersonal effectiveness, technical and professional knowledge, problem analysis, problem solving and adaptable. 
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task successfully.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing communications, journalism, business administration, marketing, or related field (or commensurate experience).
  • One to three years of marketing experience within the professional services sector.
  • Experience in a construction/architecture/civil engineering field is a plus.
  • Strong demonstration of multi-tasking ability.

Computer Skills:

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should be proficient in Adobe InDesign, Photoshop or Lightroom, Illustrator or CorelDraw, Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint. We provide unlimited LYNDA.COM training.
  • Execute social media campaigns, contribute to a monthly calendar of social media content; work with the Marketing Communications Manager to ensure a cohesive message.

$21 - $24 per hour depending on experience.

Benefits such as dental and health insurance are not available through this position.

Part-time, 24 hr/week, flexible schedule. Occasionally, a proposal may be due on a Friday, and so Friday hours might be required -- usually known about two weeks in advance.

Our office hours are 7:30am-5:00pm Monday-Thursday; our office closes at 2:30 on Fridays.
