In this role, you will be responsible for driving the day-to-day activities that strengthen Headway's brand, expand awareness and support growth of its programs and services. This is an opportunity for a candidate with 3-5 years' experience to get in on the ground floor of a new integrated strategic marketing initiative and make a meaningful and measurable impact in the market.

Your role encompasses executing all aspects of an integrated marketing plan, from strategic content development to fuel awareness and engagement; to media relations; to promotion and advertising; as well as the creation of materials in a variety of formats to support Headway's range of emotional health programs.

GOALS AND OUTCOMES:

  • Produce creative, accurate and polished communications programs and content across a range of formats and audiences to expand awareness, increase understanding, build engagement and drive growth. 
  • Ensure all external and internal communications and messaging arealigned with marketing strategies. 
  • Develop and implement media relations initiatives resulting in news coverage that supports marketing goals and objectives. 
  • Monitor and analyze ongoing program effectiveness and optimize/adjust accordingly.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1. Creates effective communications across print, video and digital channels in a manner consistent with organization marketing plan and brand standards.

  • Create and disseminate effective and polished communications across print, video and digital channels to support strategic marketing plan and brand standards 
  • Leverage internal resources and relationships to translate organization knowledge of emotional health topics and client success stories into compelling content 
  • Manage and implement the organization's online marketing strategy and content, including social media, email communications; newsletters, and digital advertising campaigns and promotions 
  • Maintain Headway website: updating regularly with fresh content; monitoring and analyzing website analytics and optimizing accordingly 
  • Ensure the consistency of messaging and brand representation across all audiences and communities 
  • Participate in organization level marketing and communications planning initiatives; develop and execute work plans that support these plans 
  • Plan and promote events geared toward various Headway stakeholder groups 
  • Consult with internal product and service managers and plan and produce targeted external communications initiatives that support identified needs 
  • Evaluate effectiveness of marketing initiatives against goals and objectives; adjust accordingly

2. Identifying opportunities for positive news media exposure and successfully coordinating media relations initiatives.

  • Create and deliver news releases, case studies, white papers, and other content to promote products and services through media relations outreach 
  • Identify key news media contacts that may provide coverage of Headway programs and services 
  • Develop and maintain relationships with Headway management, supervisors and frontline employees as sources of news media relations opportunities 
  • Train, encourage and support Headway management, supervisors and frontline employees as they represent Headway in news media stories

3. Attend staff and other meetings, as directed by the supervisor or agency policy.

4. Follow and enforce all agency policies and procedures.

5. Perform other duties as assigne

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, marketing, journalism or closely related field preferred.

Required:

  • 3-5+ years of job/internship experience working in a marketing role.
  • Experience that demonstrates strong writing, editing and proofreadng skills creating content for newsletters, marketing literature, social media, and public relations materials.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Experience working with local news media, including pitching story ideas and developing strong relationships.
  • Experience that demonstrates hands-on proficiency with range of digital tools and platforms.
  • Experience producing variety of communication materials, including print, digital and video.

Preferred, but not required:

  • Experience working with emotional/mental health services or healthcare organization.
  • Experience working with nonprofit organizations.
  • Active participation in related professional organization.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Solid understanding of integrated marketing principles and ability to execute a unified, cross-channel strategy.
  • High degree of organization and ability to effectively manage multiple priorities while delivering consistently polished communications.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and resolve problems independently; comfortable with working through ambiguity.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with wide variety of professionals and provide leadership on marketing initiatives to team members of all levels.
  • Proficient knowledge and understanding of strategic public relations practices and ethical standards.
  • High level of skill with digital technology, including content management systems, social media platforms and email marketing.
  • Knowledge of SEO, SEM and digital marketing best practices.
