Job Summary:

The person hired for the position of Communications Content Specialist will write, edit and design content for digital solutions for the for the Food Safety Division. The person in this role will work with cross functional business partners and external agencies to provide solutions, coordinate design projects, and collect information needed to execute solutions, on time, within budget, and within 3M’s quality requirements. Works with moderate work direction, and can identify issues/problems but may need assistance in resolving. Must work well with defined approaches, systems and processes. Must apply advanced knowledge of communication technologies and processes. No responsibility for directly leading or supervising other 3M employees.

This position provides an opportunity to transition from other private, public, government or military environments to a 3M career.

Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Collaborate with marcom, marketers and the content development team to write, edit, and design content for multichannel publishing including web, social, mobile, email, online advertising, PPC, and interactive tools that engage our customers and support top division priority communications campaigns 
  • Design materials repurposed from core marketing materials and make simple revisions to existing materials ensuring materials are aligned to corporate and business brand strategy and identity 
  • Direct photoshoots as needed to ensure images reflect brand guidelines 
  • Collaborate with external creative resources 
  • Manage copy approvals. Work with Marketing, Tech Services, Clinical, Regulatory, Legal, tracking revisions and/or approvals, ensuring proper documenting of approvals. 
  • Manage project timeline for on-time/on-target deliverables ad cost aligned with budget.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Possess a Bachelor’s degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution 
  • Minimum of three (3) years of combined experience in Communications and/or Marketing in a private, public, government or military environment 
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience developing content for electronic channels

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in an advertising or public relations agency 
  • Experience with digital and social best practices; social channels including Wikis, blogs, YouTube, Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and Google+ 
  • Experience in B2B communications 
  • Strong oral and written communication skills 
  • Strong project management skills 
  • Ability to multitask
  • Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills 
  • Proven ability to manage high volumes and shifting priorities 
  • Ability to multitask 
  • Experience with budget management
