We currently have a position available for a Marketing Communications Specialist.

Marketing Communications Specialist

Position Summary:

The primary role for this position will be to understand technical information and convert content into educational and persuasive pieces using various platforms. The Marketing Communications Specialist will be a key resource to review VAA letter proposals for accuracy and manage trade show activities as well. Reporting to the Marketing Manager, this individual will be an integral team member to these primary functions and the following responsibilities.

Essential Functions:

  • Main contributor to content marketing (articles, presentations, e-newsletters, etc.) to increase presence in respective markets. 
  • Review (format, spelling, grammar, consistency, QA/QC) letter proposals and contracts as requested. 
  • Develop proposals on behalf of the company in pursuit of project opportunities. 
  • Owns VAA’s online profile, including website and social media to ensure content is current and optimized. 
  • Point-of-contact for managing and planning trade show and related activities. 
  • Create, review and maintain marketing materials such as project descriptions, resumes for use by technical staff. 
  • Ensure corporate identity and brand guidelines reflect VAA’s company culture, values and are followed across organization. 
  • Assist in organization of several VAA corporate-wide events. 
  • Verify data for use in marketing campaigns and coordinate edits with administrative staff to VAA’s Client Contact database. 
  • Serve as occasional substitute for front desk responsibilities (phone coverage, mail).

Technical -

  • MS Office Suite, Adobe Creative Suite (specifically InDesign)

Personal -

  • Excellent communications skills (both verbal and written) 
  • Able to prioritize and deliver on multiple projects simultaneously 
  • Be proactive with requests and complete with a high level of accuracy 
  • Able to interact with all levels of the company 
  • Ability to work independently and possess strong problem solving skills 
  • Team oriented - personable professional able to interact with internal team members and external vendors 
  • Able to thrive in changing, fast-pace environment 
  • Flexibility in assuming a variety of tasks and assignments

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Marketing, Communications or similar field 
  • 3-5 relevant work experience in marketing or communications role 
  • Experience with maintenance of social media and web content 
  • Experience in the engineering, architecture, or construction (A/E/C) industry desired – preferred 
  • Trade show planning / coordination – preferred 
  • Previous event planning experience – preferred 
  • Knowledge of graphics software (i.e., Illustrator and Photoshop) – a plus
