Join the AMA team as Marketing Development Manager in Physician Engagement. As part of the team, you will be responsible for implementing and executing member growth strategies through translation of AMA member programs, platforms and offerings. Support the segment leader and team by collaborating in the development, implementation, and management of programs to build membership and engagement within their segment(s). Provide support to subject matter experts (SME’s) by representing the AMA externally and translating the voice of the target audience, identifying existing and emergent needs of the target audience; proactively initiating investigation with AMA subject matter and product experts to identify product and service gaps; and collaborating to fulfill those needs and opportunities. Lead the application of both proven and innovative communications and marketing expertise to ensure every project enhances the overall positioning and strategic direction of the AMA.

MARKET INSIGHTS:

  • Develop analysis to demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of segment(s) needs, issues and relationships to produce actionable insights.
  • Prioritize identified needs/gaps and collaborate within the segment and with SME’s to appropriately position existing products and member offerings.
  • Collaborate to conceive new member programs and identifying key features, benefits and value propositions.
  • Provide insight to segment leadership, SME’s and support units to ensure the most appropriate positioning, channel strategy and distribution methods for communication, product, service and engagement opportunities.

MARKET STRATEGY:

  • Assist in developing market strategies to drive membership growth.
  • Facilitate execution of integrated strategic and tactical plans for assigned segment.
  • Execute program launches.
  • Build external partnerships to accelerate use of AMA offerings and ensure alignment across the AMA.
  • Collaborate with internal AMA subject matter experts (SME’s) on strategies and tactics to maximize segment penetration.
  • Collaborate with other SMDM’s to ensure alignment and identify possible execution synergies.

BUSINESS RESULTS:

  • Develop metrics to measure the success of the member programs.
  • Collaborate to assess performance against metrics and advise on appropriate action(s) to deliver business results.

SEGMENT ENGAGEMENT:

  • Represent the AMA externally to targeted physicians in order to build relationships, increase awareness, generate membership opportunities and create physician insights.
  • Enhance and develop relevant membership programs, packages and offerings. Maximize target audience membership, interaction, and usage of AMA member programs, platforms and offerings.
  • Organize the testing and implementation of programs and engagement opportunities and develop deep insight into the current and emerging needs along with interests of the target audience in the segment.
  • Drive execution and maintenance of assigned network communities including editorial calendar and digital engagement efforts (e.g. panel discussions, online challenges, featured resources). Execute and design community marketing plan in cooperation with all stakeholders. Monitor communities on a daily basis and ensure timely responses to user comments and questions.
  • Provide feedback to subject matter experts and support units on the effectiveness of communications and campaigns.

REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in marketing/business or equivalent degree required. Master’s or advanced degree preferred. 
  2. Minimum 7 years successful experience marketing intangible and/or tangible products and services in the physician marketplace. 
  3. Deep understanding of employed physician segment market needs. 
  4. Experience with member marketing “engagement” and distribution disciplines. 
  5. Demonstrated ability develop marketing executive summaries. 
  6. Strong interpersonal and team building skills. Ability to work in a seamless and highly collaborative manner with cross-segment specialists in the Physician Engagement unit. 
  7. Highly effective in influencing, connecting, and building relationship with external parties including physicians. 
  8. Excellent organizational and analytical skills and knowledge of customer relationship management concepts. 
  9. Well-developed project management skills including the ability to initiate, manage and execute multiple projects in a fast-paced environment under tight time constraints. 
  10. Experience with tools related to digital interface and use of social media. 
  11. Proven success in project, budget and team management and the ability to execute metric driven operational plans. 
  12. Demonstrated ability to translate unmet market needs to service/ product concepts and to work effectively with product development teams on those concepts. 
  13. Occasional travel - 10% of time.
