Milwaukee Film is a nonprofit arts organization dedicated to entertaining, educating, and engaging our community through cinematic experiences, with a vision to make Milwaukee a center for film culture. The organization is one of the largest of its kind in the country, with over 5,000 members and 84,000 festival attendees. Milwaukee Film is the engine behind the Milwaukee Filmmaker Alliance, an industry pillar with nearly 400 members dedicated to stimulating and growing the filmmaking economy in southeastern Wisconsin and beyond. In addition, Milwaukee Film operates the magnificent Oriental Theatre, a historic three-screen cinema committed to high-quality and accessible film and education programming.

Milwaukee Film seeks a Marketing Director to create and implement comprehensive and integrated marketing, communications, content, and advertising programs to further our brand and growth goals.

The Marketing Director will join a creative, energetic, and growing Milwaukee Film team that hosts the annual Milwaukee Film Festival (a 15-day event attracting 80,000 attendees per year), operates the historic Oriental Theatre year-round (a three-screen historic cinema considered one of the ten best cinemas in the country), and through its operations, advocacy and community engagement accelerates film culture and regional prosperity with the growth and success of a vibrant media and filmmaking economy.

This position offers an exceptional opportunity to join a leading Milwaukee arts non-profit that aspires to become a global leader in the film industry. This position reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer & Artistic Director of Milwaukee Film. This is a full-time position beginning in early 2019.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • In a nutshell, you’ll be the go-to when it comes to getting the word out about our awesome programs and brands.
  • Develop and implement the brand strategy for multiple non-profit business lines under one film-centric mission.
  • Develop and oversee execution of marketing strategy - campaigns, events, digital marketing, PR, and emerging needs.
  • Inspire the day-to-day work and career development of 3-5 marketing team members to ensure quality of output and positive workplace culture across Milwaukee Film.
  • Undertake continuous analysis of effectiveness in competitive environment and emerging opportunities.
  • Serve as a spokesperson and lead point on media and external public interactions.
  • Manage social media presence and direct content creation and distribution programs to improve social media engagement and recognition.
  • Collaborate with the Development team building tools and resources to enable donor and sponsor advancement.
  • Collaborate with the Programming team to define marketing materialsand engagement strategies to drive attendance to festival, cinema, and special events.
  • Collaborate with all departments with a service orientation to support all marketing needs.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, PR, or related field of study.
  • 5-7 years marketing management experience.
  • Proven track record of success in marketing leadership roles.
  • Direct experience with event promotion.
  • Direct experience in successful interaction with diverse, multicultural populations.
  • Service orientation to both internal and external audiences.
  • Confident, driven, and dynamic leader.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to spot opportunities.
  • A love for all that is great about Milwaukee.
  • Passion for film and cinema!

SALARY & BENEFITS:

Starting salary is negotiable and will be commensurate with rank of hire and based on experience and qualifications. This is a full-time, year-round salaried position paid on a biweekly schedule. Milwaukee Film’s offices are open from 9 AM – 5 PM weekdays. Additional night and weekend hours will be necessary for events as well as in the lead-up to and 15-day duration of the annual Milwaukee Film Festival.
