Old World Foundation is an independent 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that supports projects and programs at Old World Wisconsin.  Founded in 1984, Old World Foundation has raised over $9 million in support of Old World Wisconsin.  Old World Wisconsin is one of 12 historic sites operated by the Wisconsin Historical Society.  It is a 600 acre outdoor living history attraction with over 100 animals, 24 gardens, 60 buildings and costumed facilitators that bring history to life for over 60,000 visitors each year.  Old World Foundation supports Old World Wisconsin by applying for grants, stewarding gifts from corporations and individuals and hosting fundraising events.

Marketing/Graphic Design Intern

This part-time intern will design various marketing materials for print or digital distribution. Additionally, this person will assist with securing volunteers for events and fundraisers and process entries to annual photo contest.

Essential duties will consist of the following although other duties may be assigned.  This position will work closely with the Executive Director to compile information needed to complete each task.

  • Design e-mailed newsletter through Constant Contact approximately one per month.   
  • Schedule Facebook posts approximately three per week.  May be asked to film Facebook Live sessions as needed.  
  • Design and send volunteer birthday cards and thank you cards as needed.  
  • Assist in securing volunteers for various events from group of known volunteers.  
  • Design various brochures, rack cards, invitations, postcards, newspaper ads, etc. as needed for events.  
  • Provide area Chambers of Commerce and community calendars with event information as needed.  
  • Create slideshows/power point presentations as necessary.  
  • Assist with monitoring photo contest entries uploaded to Smug Mug site; email invoices; organize entered photos; assist with other aspects of contest as needed.  
  • Design annual calendar for print.  
  • May assist with annual summer fundraiser, answering the telephone, and assisting with processing mail as time permits.

Current or past students with exceptional marketing, graphic design, writing and computer skills. Specifically, experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, Publisher needed. Animoto, Canva, Smug Mug, Google forms and social media skills preferred.

This position is part-time, 15-20 hours per week. Hours are flexible between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Monday-Friday and may include one or two weekend days in the year. This position will potentially last through mid-December 2019. Wage will be commensurate with experience, starting at $11-$13 per hour.
