Illinois Action for Children’s Marketing Project Manager is the glue that helps keep projects – and people – together. A successful Marketing Project Manager will take responsibility for planning, organizing, managing, and executing projects from beginning to end. The project scope can vary widely, from single pieces of collateral to multifaceted, multi-channel marketing campaigns.

The Marketing Project Manager will work under the direction of the Director of Marketing and Communication and will collaborate closely with a team of 20+ recently appointed Marketing Liaisons who each represent programs and departments throughout the agency. The Marketing Project Manager will be responsible for identifying and assigning resources, both internal and external, to complete various tasks within a project, while also creating and managing detailed schedules. The Marketing Project Manager will also be responsible for ensuring that projects are completed within the budget parameters stated and approved.

Another key function of the Marketing Project Manager is conducting an initial review and assessment of marketing project requests in order to ensure that all necessary information has been provided and that any potential roadblocks related to resources, budgets, and/or timelines have been identified and mitigated.

Under the direction of the Director of Marketing, the Marketing Project Manager is responsible for fulfilling IAFC’s goals and objectives as they relate to the work of External Relations. This includes support for marketing, communications, development and special events. All work to be completed with minimum supervision and in accordance with Organization standards.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Work with Marketing Director, Media and Communications Manager, and Graphic Design and Digital Marketing Manager on the development of marketing strategy and alignment of marketing plans and tasks. 
  2. Coordinate and manage marketing and communications processes, timelines, and resources for all marketing projects requiring collaboration with 
  3. Review all incoming marketing requests to ensure appropriate levels of details, background, and any other required information has been provided in order for the project to begin and to be completed successfully. 
  4. Create and manage detailed marketing project plans, identifying all tasks, resources and those accountable for content and approvals. 
  5. Manage and process all marketing related invoices, including obtaining quotes, initiating and distributing POs for internal signature, and processing with Finance. 
  6. Maintain postage accounts with the USPS. 
  7. Collaborate with and provide ongoing guidance to the Marketing Liaisons, helping to ensure effective communication and information sharing among internal clients and the marketing team. 
  8. Review, edit, and revise marketing copy to ensure best practices in marketing communication are followed and that there is consistency with Organization’s messaging platform. 
  9. Coordinate printing and distribution of marketing collateral with external vendors. 
  10. Design basic marketing collateral (flyers, reports, fact sheets, signage) 
  11. Make edits to websites (internal and external). 
  12. Identify story ideas and coordinate development of content for Organization’s digital communications, including technical coordination and creation. 
  13. Provide support for special events including marketing coordination. Edit and proofread correspondence related to events, and coordinate event promotions and mailings. Assist as needed to ensure success of special events. 
  14. Responsible for assisting all departments by providing direction and support when Director is not available, and will serve as a support during high-priority/last-minute projects. 
  15. Perform marketing analysis and generate and distribute key metrics and dashboards related to marketing activities in order to help measure campaign effectiveness. 
  16. Perform administrative tasks as necessary (invoice processing, marketing collateral re-orders, and maintenance of marketing files and records, etc.).

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree and one to two years related experience and/or training. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, particularly the ability to compose letters, articles and short reports as well as proofread and edit documents. 
  • Self-motivated; able to work independently; follow-up is a must Highly organized and demonstrates swift execution 
  • Flexible/able to adjust to multiple and shifting priorities, be meticulous, thorough and detailed 
  • Meets deadlines and manages time effectively 
  • Works well in team setting both at a management level and with peers 
  • Industry, integrity, and curiosity.

  • The candidate must be able to perform effectively under the pressure of demanding deadlines and work with limited supervision/instruction, yet possess a team attitude and be willing and able to “pinch-hit” when necessary.
