The American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), the national not-for-profit association established in 1863 that represents over 91,000 veterinarians working in private and corporate practice, government, industry, academia and uniformed services is seeking a Marketing Specialist to join our Marketing and Communications team located at our Headquarters office in Schaumburg, Illinois, a northwest suburb of Chicago.

Under the direction of the Senior Manager of Marketing, the Marketing Specialist will be responsible for the coordination and execution of marketing campaigns and projects related to key AVMA events; the planning and coordination of AVMA’s presence at key tradeshows; the support of AVMA brand marketing campaigns; and other activities as assigned. This position will also help AVMA meet attendance and revenue goals for its events; manage and maintain AVMA’s brand at external tradeshows; and ensure marketing campaigns support the overall strategy related to member engagement and satisfaction.

A bachelor’s degree in marketing, communication or a related field, with a minimum of three years of experience in marketing, association management or related field isrequired. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential. We require working experience and proficiency in Microsoft Office. A successful candidate must be highly organized, with extreme attention to detail; able to manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously; and able to work effectively as a member of a team and independently. The flexibility to work outside of normal business hours and travel on behalf of the AVMA is required, with approximately 15% travel.
