Governed by 13 directors who are themselves residential members, Corn Belt also supports energy efficiency, education, and safety initiatives.

Position Details

Marketing Specialist
Central and Southern Illinois
Bloomington, IL


This position will work with our Marketing/Communications team to evaluate, plan, design, implement and sustain digital, print, and in-person sustainable marketing strategies to reach our targeted audiences. Will gain an understanding of all cooperative programs and services and present compelling, professional and informative marketing initiatives to our 36,000 member base.


A. Proactively suggest and create marketing proposals and drive them to successful conclusions based on an understanding of the cooperatives and member's needs and preferences.

B. Establish and maintain contact with residential and commercial members, developers, contractors, local leaders and potential members.

C. Promote, via a long-term strategy, Corn Belt Energy programs and services including pilot programs while offering some technical assistance to target audiences; drive increased use of new and existing programs.

D. Collaborate with communications department to generate, develop, create and edit high quality marketing communications for all digital channels (social media, website, email, video), print magazine and for presentations and live events for internal or external audiences.

E. Maintain and update existing website content as it relates to marketing and create new marketing collateral.

F. Analyze performance and metrics for member participation; website use, social media engagement, email campaigns and other marketing tools used by the cooperative. Stay current with and search for new or improved digital marketing tools, features and technologies.

G. Provide compelling ideas and framework for improved as well as new program marketing.

A. Bachelor's degree in Marketing or related field required or proven successful experience in developing, building and executing successful marketing programs in lieu of educational requirements.

B. Prior utility industry experience preferred but not required.

C. Proficiency with Adobe Creative and Microsoft Office Suites required.

D. Experience using content management systems, social media management systems, mobile app and email as well as traditional media.

E. General working knowledge of photography and video editing.

F. Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate technical subjects to non-technical audiences.

G. Excellent customer service skills required to interact with internal and external audiences.


Work performed indoors will occur within an office setting utilizing a number of technological devices such as a telephone, Smartphone, iPad, personal computer, etc. Subject to irregular hours for system outages. Occasional travel inside the cooperative service territory as well as outside the cooperative service territory for meetings and training.
