The Shorewood-Troy Library is seeking an innovative, creative Marketing Specialist to be part of our team; this is a newly-created position in our Library. You’ll have the opportunity to truly make this position your own. The Marketing Specialist will report directly to the Director of the Library.

The Marketing Specialist is responsible for:

  • Collaborating actively with our Public Service Departments (Children, Adult, and Circulation) to promote our offerings. 
  • Communicating and publicizing the value of the library through marketing materials, including posters, flyers, ads and rack cards, promoting programs and special events. 
  • Updating our website (shorewoodtroylibrary.org) to maintain fresh content and as necessary. 
  • Oversee and maintain event calendars, in conjunction with departmental programmers. The Library is in the process of shifting over to Communico for our calendar system. The Marketing Specialist will be responsible for template design and assisting with the go-live of the product. 
  • Maintain and update social media platforms. 
  • Creating and maintaining a style guide for promotional materials. 
  • Creating and maintaining a ticketing system for the creation of promotional systems. 
  • Produce quarterly newsletter, collaborating with programmers and printers to produce a quality, on-time product, mailed to 7000 households. 
  • Produce email newsletters for patrons. 
  • Create press releases for local media. 
  • Coordinating in-house displays to market and highlight materials at relevant times.

Requirements:

  • Demonstrated graphic design & web development skills. 
  • Strong organization and time-management skills; the ability to be self-directed and meet deadlines consistently. 
  • Associate’s Degree in Graphic Design, or equivalent on-the-job training. 
  • Proven ability to create high-quality marketing materials. 
  • Ability to communicate at a high level, both orally and in writing. 
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and the public. 
  • Knowledge of the non-profit and/or governmental sector.

Normal office skills such as the ability to work with Microsoft Office products, phone skills, reliable transportation to work, and the ability to lift 25 pounds are also required.

The position is a 25-hour position, and pay is dependent upon qualifications, but will be in the range of $19.00 per hour ($24,700 annually)

  • 60 hours of paid vacation annually. 
  • 55 hours of sick time annually; can accumulate up to 180 hours. 
  • 2 Days of Personal Leave after one year of employment. 
  • Participation in the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund.
