Media & Member Communications Manager

POSITION REPORTS TO: Senior Media and Member Communications Manager

EMPLOYEE STATUS: Exempt

GENERAL SUMMARY: 

Working with the Senior Media & Member Communications Manager, manage AAAAI member publications and help initiate, develop, implement and evaluate public relations and marketing strategies related to the AAAAI strategic plan.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES: (Minimum 37.5 hrs/wk)

• Oversee writing, editing, advertising sales, production and distribution of AAAAI Impact, a quarterly magazine.
• Assist the Senior Media & Member Communications Manager with managing email marketing content and delivery, as well as recommend strategies to enhance email marketing opportunities, including implementation of automations.
• Assist with developing press releases, media alerts and pitches related to key AAAAI initiatives. Manage media records and reports through Cision, develop targeted contact lists and recommend strategies to enhance PR opportunities.
• Under the leadership of the Senior Media & Member Communications Manager, co-coordinate onsite Annual Meeting Press Room activities including press releases, media outreach and leading press conferences.
• Manage content and delivery of News at a Glance, a monthly newsletter, and assist in the delivery of other AAAAI newsletters. Serve as the first point of contact with the media, manage the Media Link database and connect journalists with allergy/immunology experts.
• Under the leadership of the Senior Media & Member Communications Manager, work with AAAAI teams to develop and implement marketing efforts to educate members about strategic initiatives and programs of the AAAAI.
• Serve as liaison to various assigned committees within the AAAAI, coordinating activities and providing support as needed to achieve objectives.
• Coordinate monthly News & Notes section within The Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology and the bi-monthly Practice Notes section of The Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology: In Practice.
• Other duties as assigned.

AMOUNT OF TRAVEL REQUIRED:

• Possibly 1-2 weeks per year; some evening and weekend work may be required.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism, Public Relations or a related field, and 1-3 years of professional experience in journalism or public relations. 
• Strong attention to detail and ability to coordinate multiple projects and deadlines is essential. 
• Excellent written and oral communication, proofreading and organizational skills are required. Prior
