Lead and support communications to reach and influence a variety of stakeholders on behalf of the Global Regulatory and Quality functions – including employees, senior leaders, Medtronic Board of Directors, and regulators to name a few. Consistent, effective and direct communications with key stakeholders is essential to gain organizational alignment on the Global Regulatory and Quality strategies, priorities and execution of the work, as well as regular updates on how the work is progressing and the results. This role will report into the Global Quality Program Director and work across multiple partners and stakeholders to adapt to changing business needs in a matrix environment.

A Day in the Life:

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

  • Handles the creation and implementation of multiple forms of internal strategic communication activities, programs and content guided by the Medtronic Mission and overall business and functional strategies. 
  • Leads strategies, produces content, and organizes events to help align the organization's goals in support of greater employee engagement and business impact. 
  • Generates comprehensive strategic communication plans that engage employees with the objectives, policies, Mission, and growth strategies of the company. 
  • Responsible for planning, storytelling, writing and editing to persuade, educate and inspire internal audiences to change behavior or understand the work environment. 
  • Assists with executive communications to support senior leadership in communicating key change initiatives, policy changes and other company information to employees and other stakeholders. 
  • Leads global team of communicators to continue enhancing Medtronic’s quality culture globally (Quality Begins with Me) via comprehensive communications strategy and tactical plan. 
  • Produces organizational meetings and events, ensuring effective communications and meeting content, meeting planning and logistics, and driving alignment and engagement around goals, objectives and priorities. 
  • Leads global team in executing the Star of Excellence Award program; and leads communications for Global Regulatory Affairs Excellence & Quality Excellence Awards programs. 
  • Possesses strong change management communications capabilities and understanding of organizational dynamics and social psychology. 
  • Provides editorial oversight for the Global Quality and Regulatory intranet website to ensure accurate and timely information consistent with functional communications strategies is available to all employees on demand. 
  • Facilitates alignment with Global Communications to ensure alignment of messages and brand. 
  • Represents Global Regulatory and Quality communications priorities internally across Quality, Regulatory, Global Communications, and the organization as appropriate.

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

EDUCATION REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor’s Degree

YEARS OF EXPERIENCE:

  • 7+ years of communications and/or marketing communications experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or, 5+ years of experience with an advanced degree

SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  • Experience with MS PowerPoint 
  • Experience with SharePoint 
  • Experience with web publishing / content management software 
  • Experience managing external partners and vendors to complete work on time and on budget

Nice to Have:

  • Advanced Degree/Masters of Business Administration. 
  • Experience deploying enterprise-level, complex, advanced programs. 
  • Demonstrated experience interacting with and advising Director and VP-level executives in a dynamic, matrix, global environment. 
  • Experience in program/process design, as well as process improvement skill set. 
  • Experience in leveraging data/metrics to identify trends and areas for improvement/process redesign. 
  • Analytic thinker with a demonstrated ability to solve problems quickly and effectively. 
  • Effectively work at all levels of the organization, including globally. 
  • Demonstrated strengths in listening, fact-finding, and exploratory skills. Ability to uncover additional information. 
  • Strong track record of building relationships across multiple teams, and experience and deep understanding of how to get work done in matrix organizations. 
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate across teams. 
  • Demonstrated solid business judgment and ability to execute on a daily basis with a bias for action. 
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment and discretion, and maintain confidentiality.
