Position Overview:

Develop and enhance the marketing efforts and visibility of the Graduate School and the graduate programs as related to the overall university strategic plan. The individual will be responsible for planning, coordinating and implementing the execution of all aspects of marketing projects including defining project scope, creating marketing briefs and plans, establishing schedules and deadlines, communicating with designers, writers and other project stakeholders, and tracking results.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. In collaboration with the Graduate School, OMC and representatives of graduate programs, take the lead role in developing, managing and executing strategic marketing briefs and plans (as appropriate) to achieve the Graduate School’s enrollment goals and mission.
  2. Coordinate and implement marketing projects (include print, web, advertising, events and research) from concept to completion. Set deadlines, follow detailed project management plans, work closely with creative leads, monitor and summarize progress of project.
  3. Lead and manage traditional and digital communications and marketing campaigns to engage prospective and admitted graduate students.
  4. Plan and manage budget and vendor payments for departments and the Graduate School. In coordination with the Graduate School, responsible for statements of work, purchase orders, approvals and coordination with departments and graduate recruiters to determine best use of funds.
  5. Collaborate with the Graduate School program recruitment staff and Director of Graduate Admissions to develop and maintain effective advertising and recruitment plans, specific to program need, obtaining appropriate approvals from Graduate School.
  6. Develop proactive outreach plan for university partners and maintain partnerships across campus.
  7. Measure how enrollment campaigns are performing against stated objectives and use ongoing analytics to make changes to program and marketing roadmaps/campaigns informed by student response.
  8. Develop, analyze, and manage the reporting on performance metrics. Report on key success metrics and analytics to provide thorough business analysis and strategic program and tactical recommendations.
  9. Develop advertising initiatives, investigate new opportunities and incorporate market research to positively impact graduate program recruitment and applicable projects.
  10. Ensure departments promotional and marketing materials are current, complete and accurate.
  11. Maintain best-practices knowledge of marketing and communication practices directed toward graduate students.
  12. Perform other duties and responsibilities as required, assigned, or requested.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, public relations, advertising, business communications or related field required. 
  • Minimum of 3 years of project and/or account management experience in a marketing context. Marketing, public relations and/or advertising experience that includes areas such as developing a marketing brief and/or plan; creating promotional materials and publications and planning special events. 
  • Demonstrated ability to identify marketing need to plan, budget and execute marketing communication projects. 
  • Knowledge of print and web communication devices, advertising strategy and media buying and basic market research techniques. 
  • Must have strong analytical, quantitative and problem-solving capabilities, with attention to detail, at both strategic and executional levels. 
  • Experience with customer relationship management (CRM) systems, automation tools, email deployment platforms, direct mail and digital marketing tactics as related to lead generation and conversion. 
  • Demonstrated ability to work well under pressure, project management, time management skills, and desire to work in team-oriented environment essential. 
  • Counsel and lead as needed, assess requests and make recommendations on strategy and implementation, considering immediate needs and long-term impacts of decision. 
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, and written and verbal communication skills required. Pleasant, dynamic, and professional demeanor. 
  • Knowledge of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. 
  • Familiarity with Marquette University or an academic environment in general. 
  • Knowledge of and willingness to support Marquette’s Catholic, Jesuit mission.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Master’s degree preferred. 
  • Experience working in higher education is preferred.
