We are seeking a Senior Communications Specialist to develop and coordinate influencer and external communications and resources. We need attention to every detail with an eye for the points no one has considered. This role will also be integral to identifying, building messaging and managing conference and speaking opportunities supporting business goals. Based in Minnetonka, Minnesota, this role will support UnitedHealthcare Community & State (C&S) marketing and communications objectives; developing UHC and business - segment value stories and supporting relationship - building with key national and local stakeholders; and implementing C&S communications initiatives and programs. We’re looking for a smart, enthusiastic and creative team member, driven by a common company goal: to help people live healthier lives and to help make the health system work better for everyone.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Developing proactive and reactive communications for UnitedHealthcare Community & State community plans; collaborating with national and internal communications teams 
  • Managing project workflows and deliverables from creative and communications teams 
  • Collaborating with stakeholders and appropriate community partners and influencers to build positive relationships and represent UnitedHealthcare’s interests 
  • Owning the distribution process to ensure appropriate approvals are managed and deadlines met 
  • Evaluating and determine appropriate content distribution channels 
  • Overseeing production lifecycle of materials from creation to final distribution 
  • Implementing policies and procedures on development, approval and distribution of materials 
  • Serving as communications and best practices resource to internal stakeholders and project coordinators 
  • Supporting marketing and business leaders to identify and recommend local event participation, assisting UnitedHealthcare community engagement to build brand and reputation 
  • Support earned and owned media reporting to demonstrate return on objectives for businesses and brand 
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree OR High School Diploma / GED and 5+ years marketing, public affairs or communications experience 
  • 3+ years project management skills 
  • 5+ years’ experience in assessing and interpreting customer needs and requirements 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (The ability to create documents in Microsoft Word, create spreadsheets in Microsoft Excel, create presentations in Microsoft PowerPoint, send documents in Microsoft Outlook) 
  • Able to travel up to 25% of the time nationwide 
  • Flexible to work out of the core business hours

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Cross - functional team experience working in a complex, matrix organization, preferably in a healthcare environment or with a creative agency 
  • Medicare Advantage experience

Soft Skills:

  • Ability to use collaborative skills 
  • Great written and verbal communication skills 
  • Solving moderately complex problems and / or moderately complex analyses 
  • Generally work is self - directed and not prescribed 
  • Ability to work with less structured, more complex issues
