The College of Business and Economics seeks a Senior Digital Media Specialist (Senior Media Specialist).

The Senior Digital Media Specialist will lead the College of Business and Economics at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater in the use of digital media for online education and academic support, communications, marketing, and campus-supported endeavors. While under the direction of the Assistant Dean, the Senior Digital Media Specialist will have the opportunity to exercise independent initiative and judgment within the boundaries of university policies and established practices. The Senior Digital Media Specialist will provide structure, processes, and support for using digital media in online and traditional classes; marketing campaigns; speeches; and the web. This position requires limited night and weekend work at college and university events.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Manage media studio, event and project timelines to ensure quality and efficient delivery of services. 
  2. Video production of online and traditional class lectures. 
  3. Ensure high degree of accessibility and availability of college media. 
  4. Develop videos for college marketing and publicity activities. 
  5. Produce live web events broadcast nationally and internationally. 
  6. Train, supervise and mentor student media techs regarding video production and quality control. 
  7. Document technology and processes and follow change management protocol. 
  8. Video record and photograph college and university events as required. 
  9. Consult and advise faculty on the use of digital media in the classroom. 
  10. Work with campus partners to establish plans for the future development of digital media within the college. 
  11. Recommend equipment purchase for future video production needs in consort with campus technology guidelines and alignment with university processes. 
  12. Schedule and coordinate faculty, staff, and guest speaker media. 
  13. Serve as backup classroom AV technology specialist for college as required. 
  14. Stay abreast of new technology developments and “best practices” for higher education video needs and make recommendations for future improvement 
  15. Willingness and ability to be an active participant in following applicable safety rules and regulations including necessary training and drills. 
  16. Ability to interact respectfully with people from diverse socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds. 
  17. Perform related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Knowledge and abilities acquired through a Bachelor’s Degree in a digital media related discipline or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Significant experience with digital media planning and production. 
  • Exhibit mastery of multiple media formats. 
  • Strong understanding of the theory and operation of all A/V equipment such as professional HD video cameras, digital SLR, lighting for video and still, microphones (wired and wireless), audio mixers and TriCaster video switchers. 

Desired Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated understanding or ability to learn classroom technology including touch panels, projectors, document cameras, amplifiers, DMPS 
  • Ability to plan and schedule complex productions 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical personnel. 
  • Ability to organize, manage and mentor student resources, production teams, and meet deadlines. 
  • Strong knowledge of photographic, audio, and video production software such as Adobe Photoshop; Premiere Pro; After Effects; Prelude; Media Encoder; Encore; and Camtasia. 
  • Ability to consult and provide compositional guidance to faculty, students, and staff on media projects. 
  • Ability to recommend creative ideas for the development of digital media. 
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills. 
  • Strong team orientation and ability to work with others. 
  • Ability to work with little daily supervision while accomplishing college goals. 
  • Willingness and ability to be an active participant in following applicable safety rules and regulations including necessary training and drills.
