The Senior Principal Brand Program Management Specialist for the Global Brand and Engagement function is an important role in building and managing the strategies, programs, infrastructure, and tools to support brand excellence globally. This includes leading the development of the systems, processes, policies and guidelines that empower the enterprise to develop and deliver brand-centric communications, products, services and programs. This role is responsible to develop and implement all aspects of brand expression, which include the brand identity system, brand experience, brand tools, and the resources to drive consistent, common approaches. This role will establish and manage effective methods for auditing, reviewing, and educating others on the application of the brand as well as defining and directing strategies to strengthen brand advocacy as well as monitor and measure brand excellence across the enterprise. This position reports to the Senior Director, Global Brand and Engagement and connects with external stakeholders as well as all functions, regions, and businesses across our company to advance the Medtronic brand.

  • In this role, you will be the recognized master in the discipline of brand management and global brand operations. You will be responsible to design new programs, processes, standards, or operational plans based on business and/or brand strategy to improve performance and results of the Medtronic brand as a business asset.Lead the creation, establishment, and management of global company programs to realize excellence in the Medtronic positioning, brand strategy, and strategic communication frameworks enterprise-wide. 
  • Develop, implement, and drive evolution of the brand identity system (verbal and visual), brand tools and resources to drive consistent, common approaches. 
  • Lead global brand programs to drive market leadership and elevate the brand experience for Medtronic customers across all market-facing channels 
  • Design brand portfolio management practices and build the guidance and programs to support architecture and naming structures 
  • Build and manage the infrastructure and tools to support brand excellence globally including systems, policies and guidelines that empower the enterprise to develop and deliver brand-centric communications, products, services and programs. 
  • Establish effective methods for auditing, reviewing, and educating others on the application of the brand as well as defining and directing strategies to measure the value of the Medtronic brand internally and externally. 
  • Conduct research to evaluate Medtronic reputation, brand strength and creative concept impact on certain stakeholders. 
  • Negotiate with others across functions, businesses and regions to reach understanding or agreement relative to brand related matters. 
  • Provide guidance, coaching, and training to other employees, and day-to-day work supervisory to team members assigned to perform in the brand management function 
  • Requires up to 20% global travel

Must Have:

  • Bachelor or Master degree in Marketing, Communications or related field and minimum of 10 years of relevant experience or advanced degree with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience. 
  • Minimum 5 years demonstrated experience in brand management

Nice to Have:

  • Masters Degree in marketing or related field 
  • Previous experience in a branded house (Masterbrand) environment 
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills including developing long term strategic relationships at all levels in an organization and indirectly influencing business objectives. 
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and influence management skills 
  • Ability to address undefined challenges that require detailed information gathering, analysis, and investigation to understand and solve problems with confidence. 
  • Experience in managing and evolving brand identity systems – visual as well as verbal. 
  • Demonstrated mastery level knowledge and skills within marketing and brand 
  • High degree of initiative and self-motivation with a strong sense of accountability. 
  • Demonstrated experience in project and change management with high levels adaptability 
  • Experience managing complex initiatives involving cross-functional teams. 
  • Intimate knowledge of branding and working knowledge of channel, product, and digital marketing.
