We are looking for an experienced and creative Social Media Specialist to join the Marcus Theatres’ team. As a Social Media Specialist, you will be responsible for helping to develop and implement our Social Media strategy in order to increase our online presence and improve our marketing and sales efforts, leading to increased attendance and revenue.

Broad Description of Duties:

The Social Media Specialist will be responsible to inspire promotional communications via company specific Internet-based applications to encourage the exchange of user-generated content. Support the social media elements to foster interaction, education, engagement and discussion regarding the company’s brands and products through the use of online communities. This will include developing strategies to increase awareness, brand loyalty and superior customer service.

The ideal candidate possesses exceptional verbal and written skills, creativity and ability to multi-task. We are looking for an associate with 3-5 years Social Media Marketing experience. This position reports to the Social Media Manager and will assist in managing all social communities as well as create and schedule content.

Essential Functions/Job Duties:

  • Implements and manages the Marcus Theatres’ social media strategy
  • Creates and schedules content related to the Marcus Theatres’ movie going experience and F&B brands, including the creation of social media content calendars for the Marcus Theatres’ corporate and individual theatre pages
  • Works with copywriters and designers to ensure content is informative and appealing
  • Identifies key target audiences and formulates specific online plans to reach these audiences
  • Defines the most important social media KPIs and tracks for each campaign
  • Assists in implementing and overseeing online contests from conception to fulfillment
  • Maintains field administrators on all social media sites
  • Monitors user engagement on all Marcus Theatres online channels and suggests content optimization opportunities
  • Uses analytics by tracking month-to-month changes in social media statistics, find causes for rises/plummets and changes strategy accordingly
  • Monitors competition’s social media activity
  • Assists in managing all social media customer service issues and responds or forwards to appropriate departments.
  • Communicates with industry professionals and influencers via social media
  • Supports other Advertising and Marketing needs

Job Requirements:

  • Understands and is fluent in the social media universe including but not limited to; Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, Pinterest, YouTube, Yelp, etc.
  • Knows and complies with Social Media regulations as well as Marcus Theatres Legal policies
  • Possesses great interpersonal and communication skills including the ability to write details reports, instruction and presentations for internal users
  • Excels at research, possesses excellent writing skills and the ability to create editorial and technical writing output quickly
  • Brings to the position outstanding organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines
  • Working in office environments and out in the field, assisting the team with additional duties as needed

Education Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Communications, or Related Field

Experience Required:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a Social Media Specialist or similar role
  • Excellent knowledge of Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, Pinterest, YouTube, Yelp, etc.
  • Mastery of the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and proven experience developing presentations and recaps for social campaigns
  • Previous experience training internal users to monitor social channels and create content for local efforts

Experience Preferred:

  • Understanding and previous experience with SEO and web traffic metrics
  • Experience overseeing and creating processes for reputation management/optimization within online channels
  • Familiarity with tools like Google Analytics and other dashboard services such as Netvibes, Brandwatch, Sysomos and NUVI to aid in analyzing and forecasting metrics and competitive trends
  • History of creating and managing targeted Facebook ads and the ability to effectively report key performance metrics
