The Social Lights, LLC was founded in January 2011 by entrepreneurs Emily Pritchard and Martha McCarthy. During their final semester at the University of St. Thomas, while both were studying Entrepreneurship and Business Communications, they discovered the need for businesses to utilize social media as a strategic marketing communications channel. After months of in-depth research and dozens of discussions with local business owners, they recognized the need for social media marketing services was growing. To meet this need, they created The Social Lights – an agency that offers social media strategy, training, and community management services to help clients achieve their business objectives.

At The Social Lights®, Social Media Strategists are responsible for leading the development of social media strategy deliverables on behalf of TSL clients. Strategists apply quantitative and qualitative analysis skills to determine how to best leverage social media to achieve client’s desired business results.

Responsibilities:

  • Leads development of social media strategy deliverables on behalf of clients, including paid advertising campaign strategies and targeting parameters 
  • Builds and manages a rich content/editorial strategy that attracts target audiences and keeps them coming back 
  • Works with brand and account teams to develop ideas from scratch and produce original content that can be utilized across multiple social media marketing channels 
  • Maintains strong time management, organization, and prioritization skills in order to complete multiple client asks and deliverables in a timely manner 
  • Uses TSL KPI best practices to guide calculations and insight 
  • Analyzes data to support insights, key takeaways, and optimizations 
  • Ensures all content distribution activities are coordinated across all necessary social channels 
  • Explores new formats and methods for content development and distribution 
  • Audits and evaluates competitors’ social media efforts on a regular basis 
  • Contributes to internal training content in the form of lessons/How-To’s, and POV requests 
  • Stays up-to-date with industry trends in both social and digital spheres; shares insights with team members on a regular basis 
  • Participates in new business development activities as requested, including research and brainstorming, development of pitch decks, and presenting to prospective clients 
  • Contributes to the development and implementation of Integrated Marketing Campaigns as assigned (contests, sweepstakes, promotions, event integration, etc.) and Social PR initiatives 
  • Assists with effectively organizing ideas and concepts through tools such as quarterly trend reports 
  • Presents new ideas to improve performance across TSL client accounts and internal processes
  • Stays current with client, competitor, and industry news, and provides answers to POV requests from Business Development, Client Services, and Strategy departments

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism, English, Public Relations, Marketing or related communications field 
  • Stellar writing, editing and proofreading skills – writing samples required 
  • Strong analytical, planning, forecasting and research skills 
  • Effective presentation skills 
  • 2 years experience in a social media role 
  • 3 years experience in marketing or communications role 
  • Proficient in MS Office software 
  • Maintains confidentiality with business relations, personnel matters, proprietary matters 
  • Well organized, strong time management and prioritization skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5+ years experience in advertising, marketing, or communications field 
  • Agency experience 
  • Experience with G Suite (Google Apps) tools 
  • Experience with Apple iWork (Keynote, Pages)
