WordPress Designer/Developer

Job Brief:

Uy Creative Communications is a boutique national medical and dental marketing agency looking for an experienced and passionate WordPress Designer/Developer to join our team! As a WordPress Designer/Developer at our company, you will be responsible for both back-end and front-end development, including creating WordPress themes and plugins. We are expecting you to have a strong understanding of latest industry trends and content management systems.

We're looking for an organized self-started who is willing to collaborate with the team to create beautiful, engaging, custom websites.

Job Type: 

Freelance/Part-time contractor.

Education Requirements:

Bachelor of Science in Web Design, Computer Science, or something similar

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Web developer responsibilities include building our website from concept all the way to completion from the bottom up, fashioning everything from the home page to site layout and function
• Designing and implementing new features and functionality
• Establishing and guiding the website’s architecture
• Ensuring high-performance and availability, and managing all technical aspects of the CMS
• Helping formulate an effective, responsive design and turning it into a working theme and plugin
• Working with various premade themes (e.g. Divi) and plugins (Yoast SEO, WooCommerce, WPMU Dev, etc.)
• Training clients with basic WordPress skills
• Assisting clients with email setup
• Strong organizational skills to juggle multiple tasks within the constraints of timelines and budgets with business acumen
• Ability to work and thrive in a fast-paced environment, learn rapidly, and master diverse web technologies and techniques
• Ability to handle pressure in meeting deadlines and prioritizing tasks
• High level of attention to detail and consistently strong organizational skills
• Ability to be self-motivated and work independently using professional judgment
• Strong desire to work independently with limited direction and as part of a team to serve the overall goals of our organization and the needs of our clients Be a team player even if you work remotely

Education Requirements:

• Bachelor of Science in Web Design, Computer Science, or something similar

Job Skills:

• Good understanding of front-end technologies, including HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, jQuery
• Good understanding of PHP back-end development
• Adequate knowledge of relational database systems (MySQL)
• Experience building user interfaces for websites and/or web applications
• Experience designing and developing responsive design websites
• Comfortable working with debugging tools like Firebug, Chrome inspector, etc.
• Ability to understand CSS changes and their ramifications to ensure consistent style across platforms and browsers
• Ability to convert comprehensive layout and wireframes into working HTML pages
• Strong design sense with an online portfolio
• Experience with responsive design
• Proficiency with creating and modifying custom theme files and child themes
• Know Adobe Creative Suite (e.g. Photoshop and Illustrator) inside & out
• Knowledge of hosting/server-side tasks (cPanel, MX Records, DNS maintenance, SSL certificates, Email setup)
• Hands-on experience with network diagnostics, network analytics tools 
• Basic knowledge of Search Engine Optimization process
• Familiar with Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, Adwords
• Aggressive problem diagnosis and creative problem-solving skills

Negotiable -- We can go hourly or give you a piece of the action with a HIGH fixed rate portion of the project.
